And a torsion spring can be specified by cycle rating, so the same door can be built for a longer service life instead of taking whatever the original builder fitted. Where the framing will not take it, the honest answer is to add a proper spring pad or reframe the header as part of the job, and to price that openly, rather than to fasten into whatever the drill finds.

A shaft is sized to the opening, bearing plates and a center bracket are fixed into sound framing, springs are specified by the door's actual measured weight and the cycle life wanted, and new lift cables and drums are fitted and set.
